The original is back with a radical new look and an even wider range. The forth gen Ripper features a completely new outline and improved rocker that’s incredibly easy to ride. The user-friendly shape will have you high-five-ing and hang-ten-ing ankle biters to head highs. Ripper. New shape. But with the same classic flex, a polyurethane and glass board is known for!

SO, WHAT’S NEW?

Everything, except the construction and thruster fins. For starters, the Ripper features a wider, fish-inspired, profile and new mini swallow tail. The additional width and volume focused around your feet make it easier than ever to ride under-powered or sloppy waves. We reduced fin toe-in by 4mm to give it more drive and added a mini swallow tail for a little extra bite in the corners. Imagine the fun you’ll have in sloppy waves. Yesss, fun! Give it a try. You’ll see. Just remember to demo the smaller sizes too. You may find your perfect Ripper is one size smaller now.

EZ SHORTBOARD OUTLINE - NEW!

Inspired by Fish shapes, we added 28mm in width to the outline between the straps and shifted the volume a little more forward. Thickness is reduced to compensate for the additional area. And you’ll notice the nose is a little fuller. As a result, board volume for the 5’8” increases from 24.4l to 26l. These changes improve drive, stability, and wave riding on bigger kites or smaller waves.

PROGRESSIVE ROCKER - NEW!

The Ripper features a 3 stage progressive rocker with a fast, flat middle. The front rocker hasn’t changed much and the rear rocker is reduced 6mm giving a little extra speed in the turns. Three-stage rockers are fantastic at increasing speed in the flats while improving carves when engaging the tail.

MINI SWALLOW TAIL - NEW!

The Ripper moves from a round tail to a mini swallow design. Increased surface area adds lift, speed, and grip in the corners.

ACTIVE FOAM CORE

Foam selection is critical to board performance. So we use only the best closed-cell PU or polyurethane foam from Surfblanks. Our PU foam prevents waterlogging even when punctured. It can also be precisely shaped giving our board superior flex and improved dimensional accuracy. Enjoy worry-free surfing even after dinging your board. That’s Active Foam Core.

CLASSIC GLASS COAT

Preferred by pro surfers everywhere, glass boards provide a softer, more flexible ride with less bounce. Our multi-layer fiberglass and resin process delivers precisely tuned rails, a classic surf feel, and of course, good looks.

DOUBLE STRINGER

A laminated wood stringer is inlaid along the full length of the board to manage longitudinal flex and give the Ripper its signature feel. A second visible wood stringer is inlaid horizontally also along the length of the board to accept strap inserts. The double stringer is then laminated to the fiberglass producing a very durable deck.

TUCKED UNDER RAILS

The hand-shaped rails feature a progressive “tucked under” rail design that releases water better yet maintains the classic smooth and forgiving ride you’d expect from a glass board. The central 60/40 tucked under rail transitions seamlessly into a hard tail rail to provide greater maneuverability.

SINGLE CONCAVE - NEW!

The Ripper features a single concave bottom that adds lift and improves grip in turns.

STRAP-READY

The deck is fitted with V4A inserts to receive optional CORE straps in your favorite stance position.

BLUNT NOSE

The Ripper also misses a bit of its nose. It’s safer, more durable, and just plain cool. The blunt-nosed Ripper fits nicer in board bags and travels better in oversized luggage.

THRUSTER FIN SETUP

Thrusters turn tighter than quads and release super easy for cleaner moves off the lip. The Ripper continues with the three fin thrusters for that classic loose feel. We’ve reduced toe-in by 4mm on the new Ripper to improve drive and speed, though.

ORIGINAL FCS II FIN SYSTEM

CORE carries over the Original FCS II fin box system. FCS II is the keyless fin system that enables 2-second fin changes without tools. It’s wise to stick with the global standard in fin boxes for the day you lose a fin on your favorite reef. Because it’s backward compatible (in that it still retains grub screws to secure any old FCS fin you or your friends may have), you will be back on the water in no time. Now that’s progress
